Nested in Havneparken, the new city hall of Sandnes will act as a beacon for the city and perform like a market for the people where citizens, visitors, young and old will be able to gain and exchange information, knowledge and culture. The new city hall shouldn’t just function as one of the most flexible and well organized working places; but also carry out the history and culture of Sandnes; creating a sense of belonging and pride under the motto past, present and future.

The deck of the harbor waterfront square area extends into the ground floor plaza; which is conceived as the heart of the new city hall.

The market plaza of the building performs as a vibrant place for interaction and performing with a low threshold for local residents to visit. People are welcome to stay and enjoy the harbor activity from the south orientated terrace; encouraging also interaction between city officials, staff employees, locals and visitors.
