Campus Casinoplein is een bijzondere plek, een belangrijke getuigenis van een rijk universiteitsverleden in Gent en heeft reeds herkenning en betekenis verworven in de stad. Deze opdracht is niet zomaar het bedenken van een nieuwe campus. Het is het bedenken van een nieuwe culturele kern in Gent, een versterkt en open centraal groen park. Een hedendaagse setting voor ontmoeting, dans, muziek en techniek. De studie is geen afgerond ontwerp, maar een aanzet voor actief dialoog met alle betrokken partners.
When considering where to position a new sports hall in Ledeberg, we asked ourselves how could we maximise the use of space in such a densely populated part of the city? How could we create a sports hall without encroaching on (much needed) parking and green spaces that existed in the neighbourhood? These questions led us to a solution designed to turn wasteland beneath a highway into a vision for youth sport, whilst also enabling the creation of a general sports hall that wouldn’t encroach on parking space.
Before OYO was invited to pitch for this project, the ‘park’ did not exist - it was a site with most of the sporting areas completely closed off to the public. We thought about how we could redesign the site to engage a wider variety of groups with sport and exercise, from spectators to clubs to casual play and fitness. This would involve creating an open park, with three buildings - gym hall, soccer building and hockey club – all refurbished, open and connected to each other.
House DeDe was a project for a private client who had intentionally bought a piece of land with limited building potential. They wanted to protect the existing nature on the land and enable the family’s children to feel a bond with it. For this reason, creating a new family home on the property provided an interesting design challenge.
House Lico is founded upon an amazing plot of land that’s rich in nature with incredible views. Having bought the plot, our client’s brief to us was for a large home (185m²) that was also “modest in design, and celebrates the land”. This seeming paradox of scale and modesty provided an interesting design challenge.
As part of a competitive pitch, OYO was invited to design a large residential block for Wibier St Amandsberg (the assisted living complex for elderly people). We won the competition not by designing a building, but by designing ways to combat loneliness.
We see the Electrabel site as a unique opportunity to help shape the further development and urban renewal of the city of Aalst. Embracing the link with its rich industrial past, the concept focuses on reactivating the site by accommodating new functions. In this way, the Electrabel site offers space for a new development where people want to live, stay and experience the character of Aalst.

Het doel van de haalbaarheidsstudie is om aan de hand van een scenario-analyse een duidelijk zicht te krijgen op alle mogelijkheden, alle voor- en nadelen en de kostprijs van de mogelijke scenario’s op de site, in functie van de herhuisvesting van basisschool, IBO en KDV. Het onderzoek is gebeurd in drie stappen en mondt uit in een eindrapport met gelijknamige drie delen: 1. analyse 2. randvoorwaarden 3. haalbaarheidsstudie.
